What is Thiacloprid?

Thiacloprid is a nitrile that is cyanamide in which the hydrogens are replaced by a 1,3-thiazolidin-2-ylidene group which in turn is substituted by a (6-chloropyridin-3-yl)methyl group at the ring nitrogen. It has a role as a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant and a neonicotinoid insectide. It is a member of thiazolidines, a nitrile and a monochloropyridine. It derives from a 2-chloropyridine and a cyanamide.

Uses

Broad-spectrum, systemic neonicotinoid insecticides have a good killing effect on mouthparts piercing pests. It acts on the nicotinic acid acetylcholine receptor, and has no cross-resistance with organophosphorus, carbamate, and pyrethroid insecticides. It can be used for resistance management. The medicament has excellent control effect on important pests on cotton, vegetables, potatoes and pear fruits. In addition to being effective against aphids and whiteflies, it is also effective against various beetles (such as potato beetles, apple weevil, rice weevil) and lepidopteran pests (such as leaf miners and codling moths on apple trees). All crops are applicable. According to different crops, pests, and usage methods, the recommended dosage is 48～180g active ingredient/hm2 for foliar spraying, and there is also recommended 20～60g active ingredient/hm2.
