What is Teflubenzuron?

Teflubenzuron is a N-acylurea that is N-carbamoyl-2,6-difluorobenzamide substituted by a 3,5-dichloro-2,4-difluorophenyl group at the terminal nitrogen atom. It has a role as a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant and an insecticide. It is a dichlorobenzene, a N-acylurea and a difluorobenzene. It derives from a N-benzoylurea.

Uses

Fluorobenzoyl urea insect growth regulator, a chitinase inhibitor, inhibits the formation of chitin. Through the control of normal molting and development of larvae, the purpose of killing insects is achieved. It is particularly active against a variety of lepidopteran pests. Teflubenzuron also has good effects on the larvae of other whitefly, Diptera, Hymenoptera, and Coleoptera pests. It is not effective against many parasitic insects, predatory insects and spiders.

Teflubenzuron is mainly used for vegetables, fruit trees, cotton, tea, etc., such as spraying with 5% EC at 2000-4000 times of 5% EC during the egg incubation period to the first to second instar larva period of the cabbage caterpillar and diamondback moth. Plutella xylostella, beet armyworm, and Spodoptera litura that are resistant to organophosphate and pyrethroids should be sprayed with 5% EC at 1500-3000 times during the egg incubation period to the 1-2 instar larva period. For cotton bollworm and red bollworm in the second and third generation egg incubation period, spray with 1500-2000 times 5% EC, and the insecticidal effect can reach more than 85% about 10 days after the medicine.
