Uses
Alpha-lipoic acid is available as a dietary supplement in the veterinary market for dogs only and a dose of 1–5 mg/kg/day is recommended. Cataract is a significant problem in diabetic dogs, with 75% of animals affected two years after diagnosis.
Some data show that supplementing alpha lipoic acid bulk in the food of old mice in a short period of time can reduce the production of active oxygen, improve the energy metabolism in the mitochondria, reduce oxidative stress, enhance the vitality of the body, and improve short-term memory. Animal experiments have proved that lipoic acid also has a protective effect on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, which can significantly reduce the infarct size and improve the survival rate of cerebral ischemia rats.

Oral or intravenous injection of Crorent’s broiler diet supplemented with lipoic acid 100mg/kg can significantly reduce broiler’s abdominal fat weight and increase breast muscle protein content, and promote the turnover of fatty acids in liver and adipose tissue.
Experiments by Bai Zhaopeng and others have shown that supplementation of lipoic acid in the diet does not significantly improve the production performance of laying hens at room temperature, but supplementation of alpha lipoic acid bulk in the diet of laying hens under high temperature stress can significantly alleviate the effects of heat stress on production. The adverse effects of the laying hen’s body, improve the body’s resistance. Tests by Yang Guoyu and others have proved that adding an appropriate level of lipoic acid to broiler diets can reduce blood triglyceride and cholesterol content, and reduce liver fat content.
