What is Veratrine?

The main chemical components of veratrine are sevadine and veratridine. Flat needle-shaped crystals. Veratrum alkaloids exist in plants of the genus Veratrum and Helleborus in the Liliaceae family. The plant raw materials used as pesticides are mainly the seeds of hellebore and the rhizomes of resveratrol. The plant raw materials are obtained by ethanol extraction. Plant-derived insecticides have contact-killing and stomach-toxic effects on insects.

It can be used to control houseflies, cockroaches, lice and other sanitary pests, and it can also be used to control agricultural pests such as cabbage caterpillars, aphids, leafhoppers, thrips and stink bugs.

Veratrine Applications:

1.According to the test results on a variety of crops, the product can effectively control a variety of crop aphids, tea tree green leafhopper, vegetable whitefly and other piercing and sucking pests, and lepidopteran pests such as Pieris rapae and cotton bollworm.

2.Veratrine is an insecticide extracted from Chinese herbal medicine with ethanol, which has contact killing and stomach toxicity effects. The main insecticidal mechanism of the agent is to cause local irritation after entering the digestive system through the epidermis or inhalation of the insect body, causing reflex insect body excitement, first inhibiting the sensory nerve endings of the insect body, and then inhibiting the central nervous system to cause the death of the insects. Veratrine has low toxicity to humans and animals, low residue, does not pollute the environment, and its efficacy can last for more than 10 days. It is highly effective for the prevention and control of vegetable pests.

Uses

1. Prevent and control vegetable aphids. In the early stage of the occurrence and damage of aphids on different vegetables, apply a 400-600 times dilution of 0.5% veratrine alcohol solution to uniformly spray once, and the effective period can reach more than 14 days. Other insecticides can be sprayed alternately to achieve high efficiency and delay the development of resistance.

2. To prevent and control cabbage caterpillars, when the cabbage is in the rosette stage or the cabbage caterpillars are in the young larval stage, it is the suitable time for application. 0.5% veratrine alcohol solution 500~800 times liquid can be sprayed evenly once.
