What is Butoxide Piperonyl?
Butoxide Piperonyl has a low incidence of acute toxicity. A single oral dose of piperonyl butoxide (50 mg, ∼0.71 mg kg−1 body weight) in adult volunteers did not elicit any signs of toxicity. A likely oral lethal dose in humans was estimated at 5–15 g kg−1, or between a pint and a quart for a 150 pound person. Laboratory findings in animal studies indicate that piperonyl butoxide pyrethrum extract may cause various anemias, hepatic changes, liver injury, and increased metabolic enzymes. No eye injuries have been reported with piperonyl butoxide/pyrethrin combination.

Uses
Insecticides. Butoxide Piperonyl is used to kill the insects produced during storage of grains such as rice, wheat, beans, etc., such as grain weevil. It is often used in combination with the insecticide pyrethrin to form a complex for synergistic effect. The mortality rate of insecticide with pyrethrin alone (for example, housefly) is 46%. If the preparation (30mg+400mg) used in combination with this product is used, the killing rate can reach 92%. Usually,Butoxide Piperonyl is mixed with 10 times the amount of pyrethrins and formulated into 0.05%~0.2% emulsion or powder for use. After applying this product, its residual effect can maintain the insect-proof effect for about 1 to 10 months. According to Japanese regulations, it can be used for cereals with a limit of 0.024g/kg (calculated based on this product). Examples of compound insecticides: 1.2% of this product, 0.08% of pyrethrins, and 98.72% of mineral substances (60kg of grain is about 120g for mixing and spraying).
