What is Tea Polyphenols?
Tea polyphenols, known as catechins, usually account for 30–42% of the dry weight of the solids in brewed green tea. Catechins are characterized by di-or tri-hydroxyl group substitution of the B ring and the meta-5,7-dihydroxy substitution of the A ring.

Idiquat injection caused inflammatory interleukins to increase, while the tea polyphenols treatment reduced interleukin secretion, thus demonstrating its effect on controlling inflammation.Tea polyphenols were also shown to reduce the amount of liver lipids and abdominal fat mass, due to enhanced activity of AMP-activated protein kinase that stimulates fat oxidation and reduces lipid synthesis.
