Rhizoma coptidis extract is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine that comes from the dried rhizome of Ranunculaceous plants. In HEp2 cells, an effective dose of coptidis combination extract significantly reduces RSV replication and RSV-induced cell death. Through the induction of type I interferon-related signaling and the antiviral state in HEp2 cells, this antiviral activity against RSV was achieved. More importantly, in BALB/c mice, oral administration of coptidis rhizoma extract protected them from RSV. We identified several compounds in the aqueous fraction through HPLC analysis, including; We established a connection between the immune modulation effect and palmatine’s antiviral properties.

Rhizoma coptidis extract, an isoquinoline alkaloid found in Berberis vulgaris and Coptis Chinensis, traditional medicinal plants, has been thought to be effective for treating obesity, hypertension, type-2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and gout in both animals and humans. Due to its strong biological and pharmacological properties, including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antidiarrheal, analgesic, antimicrobial, anticancer, hepatoprotective, and lipid- and glucose-lowering properties, it currently has some applications in fish nutrition and health.

Rhizoma coptidis extract in various fish diets has been shown to reduce liver pathological changes, intestinal histological and microbiota changes caused by high-lipid and high-carbohydrate diets, as well as boost fish growth performance, immune status, and stress resistance. Berberine’s beneficial effects, on the other hand, differ depending on the fish species, the base diet, the feeding method, the level of supplementation, and other factors.

In the chromatogram of the test product, at the position corresponding to the chromatogram of the control medicinal material, the main spot of the same color appears; at the position corresponding to the chromatogram of the reference product, the spot of the same color appears.
