What is Baicalin?

Baicalin is the vitally dynamic substance constituent of Scutellaria baicalensis, a restorative plant normally known as Baikal skullcap or Chinese skullcap; belongs to the Labiatae family. The majority of the compound’s therapeutic effects are attributed to baicalin, a flavone glycoside derived from the plant’s roots.

Chinese skullcap baicalin has been used extensively in TCM for centuries in numerous medicinal preparations for various ailments. Skullcap baicalin has significant antiviral, antiapoptotic, antiinflammatory, and antioxidative stress pharmacological effects. Additionally, baicalin is utilized as an antiallergic and antiinflammatory agent in the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension.

Scutellaria chinensis is a perennial herb with aliases such as “camellia root” and “earth gold tea root”. It is mainly produced in North China and Northeast China. Baicalin is a commonly used Chinese herbal medicine. Its root is thick and it is used as medicine. It can be added to poultry feed and used as a green feed additive after being dried and crushed. It has the following physiological effects in poultry and livestock.

1. Improve the antibacterial and antiviral ability of poultry and livestock

The ingredients contained in skullcap baicalin can inhibit the replication of the genetic material of a specific virus (such as influenza virus), and prevent the occurrence of recombination of the genetic material of the virus embedded in the host cell genetic material, which fundamentally plays a certain antiviral effect.

2. Enhance the immune function of poultry and livestock

Baicalin can increase the content of immunoglobulin, and can also improve immune function by improving the function of NK cells and phagocytes.

3. Inhibit the occurrence of inflammation in the poultry body
